Museum Takeover Day

Children, are you ready? The expected day of the year has arrived!

Museum Takeover Day will take place this year on 22 November 2024 at the Troy Museum.

Takeover Day is when museums invite children to take over the jobs normally done by adults. On this special day, you will take over all the tasks museum professionals perform in one day.

Children, would you like to know what happens at the Troy Museum?

A total of 20 children will be working as museum director, assistant museum director, art historian, archaeologist, education and organization department manager, collection manager, security staff, guide, social media manager, shop and café staff, etc. between 08:30-17:30 when the museum is open.

How do you join?

It's easy! You will need to write a short letter of intent explaining your motivation to take over the Troy Museum. In your own words, it is enough to write about the task you would like to take over at the event and your expectations.

The age limit for participation in the event is 9-12 years old.

Important dates

Monday 11 November 2024: Deadline for children to send their letter of intent

Tuesday 12 November 2024: Determining the children who will work in the museum

21 November Thursday: Orientation work with selected children at the museum

Friday 22nd November: And that's the day! Children take over the museum!
