Gümüşhane Museum, which dates back to 1920, was founded by the expropriation of two side-by-side mansions belonging to Erol Karabiber and İbrahim Ömürdağ in 1998 and restored between 2004-2006. The museum building, located approximately 1 km north of the city center, has three floors, including the attic. In its garden, stone artifacts from various periods from ancient cities such as Satala Antique City and Süleymaniye Neighborhood, located within the borders of Gümüşhane province, are exhibited. These artifacts consist of sarcophagi, columns and capitals, tomb stelae, Islamic tombstones, steles with inscriptions and reliefs and various architectural pieces.

In the museum halls, the exhibition consists of 3 sections.

3- Ethnographic Works Section

It is possible to see the best examples of the Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman periods in the archeology section. These are hand axes, cutting and piercing tools, spindle whorls, terracotta ceramic samples, oil lamps. In the coin section, gold, silver, copper and bronze coins belonging to various periods such as Greek, Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman are exhibited. The ethnography section is the section where the rich folk culture products of the region are exhibited. Weaving samples such as carpets and rugs, local clothes, embroidered manuscripts, silver jewelry such as crowns, belts, necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings, cigarette holders and layers, copper kitchenware such as bowls, pans, pitchers, cauldrons and tins, mortar, coffee grinder, coffee cooler, wooden artifacts such as clogs, weapons such as swords, wedges, flintlocks and pistols are exhibited. In addition to 1191 artifacts in total, Gümüşhane family life is exhibited in the museum, and visitors are free of charge.
