AHMET KELEŞOĞLU ARCHAEOLOGY AND ETHNOGRAPHY MUSEUM
Ahmet Keleşoğlu Archaeology and Ethnography Museum operates with the aim of preserving, safeguarding, and transmitting the historical and cultural heritage of the region to future generations. Comprising a two-storey exhibition area, the museum brings together cultural and historical assets from different periods and offers visitors a comprehensive journey through history, extending from the past to the present. Each floor has been organised within its own thematic framework, thereby enabling visitors to evaluate historical processes from a holistic perspective.
The Ethnography Section, located on the ground floor of the museum, consists of artefacts reflecting the social life, traditions and customs, production practices, and cultural accumulation of past societies. This section predominantly exhibits artefacts belonging to the Ottoman Period and the Karamanids Principality. Through its rich collection, the Ethnography Section provides valuable insight into the daily life and cultural heritage of earlier communities.
The Archaeology Section, located on the first floor, brings together archaeological artefacts that have survived from past civilisations to the present day. Archaeology, as a scientific discipline, enables the study of human history through material remains and contributes significantly to the understanding of the development of civilisations. This section predominantly displays artefacts from the Roman and Byzantine periods, together with coins dated to the Classical and Hellenistic periods. In this respect, the Archaeology Section offers visitors the opportunity to examine the traces of different civilisations and to gain a deeper understanding of historical continuity.
The museum aims not only to present artefacts to visitors, but also to contribute to the development of historical awareness, to raise awareness of cultural heritage, and to foster a strong connection between the past and the present. In this regard, the museum serves as an important cultural institution that preserves the cultural memory of the region while offering visitors an educational and enriching experience.
We cordially invite all visitors to explore the traces of history and culture, to witness the rich heritage of the past, and to experience this unique cultural legacy at Ahmet Keleşoğlu Archaeology and Ethnography Museum.
