Karadeniz Ereğli is in the city center. There are 3 caves used in the Roman and Byzantine Periods (Church Cave, Heracles Cave, Ayazma Cave). After the expropriation, cleaning, maintenance, and lighting work carried out by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Türkiye from 2000-2002, it was opened to visitors and gained the status of an archaeological site. As of today, it serves as an archaeological site under Karadeniz Ereğli Museum Directorate. Cehennemağzı Caves (Prophecy caves) which are named Acheron Caves in the archeological sources have a natural body because of being existed on volcano-classic rocks and also an artificial body because has been carved by people to use.
